DAP vs UMNO

This is a post I found from the website malaysianpolitics.com while googling for info on the recent Election Day for my assignment. It's damn funny & cleverly written. Kudos to the author of this post!

According to OKT, Umno cannot be the DAP’s political arch nemesis and a vote for the DAP cannot be translated as a vote against Umno. He added that The fact is, DAP only contests in MCA-contested seats and it was illogical for the DAP to ask all Chinese voters to vote for the party just to fight Umno.

Using OKT logic, a vote for UMNO is also not a vote against DAP. Therefore Malays who voted for UMNO are only voting against PAS/PKR but not DAP. Simmilarly, using OKT logic, a vote for UMNO is also not a vote for MCA. Therefore, chinese should never vote for UMNO though both UMNO and MCA are in the same alliance.

Too hard for you to understand this logic? Let me put it in a more simple arithmetic equation.

BN = (UMNO + MCA + MIC + Gerakan) ———— (1)

DAP fight against BN
Therefore, a vote for DAP is a vote against BN ————– (2)

Substituting (1) into (2)

A vote for DAP is a vote against (UMNO + MCA + MIC + Gerakan)

This also means that
A vote for DAP is a vote against UMNO
A vote for DAP is a vote against MCA
A vote for DAP is a vote against MIC
A vote for DAP is a vote against Gerakan

Let me give you another example. Say that you go to supermarket and see a big packet of chocolate called BN. Inside this big packet of chocolate, there are 4 small packets of chocolate inside namely UMNO, MCA, MIC and Gerakan. Can you tell the store manager that,

“This packet of chocolate is too big for me, can you unwrapped it and let me buy only one small pack of chocolate?”

Guess what the manager will say? “You gila kah? These chocolates are wrapped together, either you buy this whole pack or you don’t buy them. Or you can choose another different pack of chocolate!”

Still insist on buying the small packet of chocolate(MCA) but not the whole big packet of chocolate(BN)?

Chances are, the manager will ask you to buy another packet of chocolate called DAP.
