The last teen

Happy 19th to Marvin & moi!!!

We aren't babies no more..

Holy mother of twins.. we've turned 19! Next year no more teen liao. Crud! But never mind that, it's still a long way to go. Haha.

Definitely gonna live my last teen year to the MAX! Oh, and half of it I'll be in Aussie. ZOMFG!!! Just realized that I might not get to celebrate in Malaysia with Marv! *sob* Oh well, there's a first time for everything I guess. We'll make do.

Rain clouds

Hello my fellow humans..
I'm back!

Ugh finally la. It's been damn long since I last blogged. Poor blog.. missed you so much. But I'm back now so no worries.

Okay, I think everyone would agree with me that it's been raining a lot lately. And today was no difference. Damn chat cold wei! Woke up freezing dog! Not cool.

But I'm not saying that I don't like the cold.. don't get me wrong. I would prefer cold weather to blazing heat any day! I just hate waking up freezing. You know, like unannounced. If I'm prepared for it then it's sweet.

So anyhoo.. I got a call from Men's Health inviting me to an interview for my internship placement. For those of you who don't know, I'm done with my diploma studies (thank God!) and would have to intern for 2 months to officially complete it.

So yeah.. I have an interview with Men's Health tomorrow at 2.30pm. Wish me luck eh? Please and thank you.

Directive

Watched Wall-E with Marv and Munnie this afternoon. I don't get why people say that it's disappointing or boring. It's damn nice la. We enjoyed it so much.

The movie was funny at parts. And I think most of the robots are damn cute! Haha. Especially the way they "talk" and sound. Kudos to Ben Burtt! He's the sound wizard and the "voice" for all the robots and other sounds. Genius he is.

Wall-E

After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, Wall-E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) discovers a new purpose in life (besides collecting knick-knacks) when he meets a sleek search robot named Eve. Eve comes to realize that Wall-E has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet's future, and races back to space to report her findings to the humans (who have been eagerly awaiting word that it is safe to return home). Meanwhile, Wall-E chases Eve across the galaxy.

Madika

Happy Merdeka peeps!

P/S : This picture has been edited.

Raise the flag

Last night 5 of us Tunas and Krys celebrated Merdeka's Eve at The Curve. It was much smaller than last year's but it was an fun night all the same.

We were all really starved so dinner was first priority. Hehe. We took damn long to decide where to eat though. After a long time crowded around the directory, we finally decided with Dragon-i.

So we had a Chinese-family-reunion-style dinner. We even got a round table in a cozy corner complete with a lazy susan in the middle. Our dinner was rice with a few dishes. It was delicious, except for the 'man tau' which was real small.. totally not what we expected.

After dinner, we still had plenty of time before the countdown. Krys, Amber and Erisha wanted to drink. Marv wanted to watch a movie. Steph and I were okay with either. First we decided with the movie. We checked Death Race cause Krys said it's awesome. But at the counter, we decided to go drinking instead. But then at Laundry pulak, we found out that they were having a circus-themed Merdeka party.. RM50 per head. Stun dog! And to think I could finally satisfy my craving for creme brulee. Crud.

So anyhoo, we ended up back at Cineleisure to watch Death Race. It was Krys' 2nd time watching. Imagine that.. the movie's that awsome! Seriously not to be missed. Also the movie finished just in time, around 10 minutes before midnight. We still could walk out (with the escalator totally jam-packed) and see the fireworks.

Going home we were caught in another horrid jam for an hour plus. So expected that. Pft. Marv and I reached home only at around 2am. We were so poofed.

Btw, to see the whole night's photos go to Marv's blog post. I damn malas wanna upload all of them. Lawl.

Herbivorous

Yesterday was my grandma's birthday. Happy birthday Wai Po!!!

So my family and I celebrated her birthday by having dinner with my aunt, uncle, grand aunt and grand uncle. But since the birthday "girl" was vegetarian that day, we went to makan at a vegetarian restaurant of her choice. She chose this restaurant near Metro Prima.

Captured this sunset on the way to the restaurant.
So beautiful!!! I love the colors the sky makes.

Retaurant sayur-sayuran..
Directly translated it means vegetable restaurant. Haha.

The dinner, though meat-less, was deliciously awesome. Seriously. Give vegetarian food a try. They aren't bad at all.

Four Seasons.

Shark Fin Soup.

Butter Prawns.

Stir Fried Mushrooms.

Mutton Curry.

Stir Fried Spinach.

From left:
Grand aunt, the birthday "girl", aunty.

When we were walking to our car after dinner, we noticed a Kelisa parked behind. It wasn't directly behind but enough to make it difficult to reverse out. So whatever la. My dad just honked to get the owner's attention. But the noob didn't come out. So my dad honked some more. And he honked, and honked.. and honked.. and HOOONNKED!!! But the blardy bastard still didn't come out! WTF??

My dad even went around shouting and asking whoever the owner was to move the blardy car. Plus it was drizzling outside. Poor daddy. Damn that fcuking bastard! We all seriously felt like doing some illegal things to the car. And if I ain't wrong, my dad busted one of the tyres. But that was later.

So anyhoo, we finally couldn't take no more of that shite. So my dad carefully reversed inch by inch out of the lot. Fcuking tight squeeze I tell you. Kudos daddy! Okay, then he did some tyre-busting. Shhh.. lawl.

Random thoughts

The things some people think of. Haha.

We were on our way to class, walking past the auditorium and we found this trolley, lifter thingy.. um.. whatever its called. I think I'll just call it the trolley throughout the post. So anyhoo, that trolley's to lift and transport the stacked chairs into the auditorium.

Auggie suggested to fix one of the chairs onto the trolley so one of the girls can sit on it, like a wheelchair. Lollers. He fixed on a chair and asked Shana to sit. She was scared but we managed to persuade her to.

She was so afraid that he'll drop her. It was damn funny to watch them. Shana gripped onto the handles so tight and at one point she couldn't take it that she hopped off.

But Thivya was totally opposite. She was so psyched to sit on the chair. Haha. Brave girl. She even posed for my camera.

Trigonometry is hard

"I make you silky smooth."

Haha. Went to Cineleisure and watched You Don't Mess with the Zohan with Marv this afternoon. The movie was hillarious. But I wasn't laughing or chuckling as much as I could have and I blame the fcuking Malaysian Censorship Department! Hate that they cut off so many scenes! Freakin' spoiled the fun-ness of the movie.

So, my suggestion is to go to some nearby DVD shop or stall (whichever you prefer) and get this movie to watch at the comfort of your own home cause it ain't worth watching in the cinemas. Spend that RM6 on some other movie instead. Trust me.

Anyhoo, we actually did know about this and had planned to watch some other movie instead. But we forgot! We freakin' forgot! We only realised it when the movie was starting. Crud.. we're such noobs.

Oh and by the way, the salon owner, Dalia is HOOTTT!!! She's purtey. Lollers. The actress who plays her is Emmanuelle Chriqui.

Alright, I gotta stop here. My dad wants to use the computer. Pft. But um.. he just fell asleep. Okay, wierd.

Of love, war and friendship

Marv and I watched 2 more of the DVDs we've bought from Bali this afternoon. Okay, if you're curious, we bought 12 DVDs at Bali. The shop has an offer - one DVD is priced at 10,000Rp (RM3.64) and if you buy 10, you get another 2 for free. Bargain hunters like us can never resist!

The first movie of the day was The Hottie & The Nottie, which is quite okay and hilarious funny but the storyline's pretty predictable. Anyhoo, I admire the girls' friendship and how they're willing to sacrifice for the sake of each other's happiness. This movie also proves that love isn't always that blind.

I've googled some photos for your viewing pleasure. Lollers. Here's one of the BFFs, Christabel Abbott (the Hottie) and June Phigg (the Nottie) at 6yo and 26yo. Friends for ever..

And here's a couple of before and after photos of June Phigg played by Christine Lakin. Damn the make up artists are good! They really turned the hot actress ugly. Haha. Kudos people!

The second movie was Son of Rambow, which is a heart warming and somewhat quirky British film. Just so you know, this movie's totally conquered by child actors and they are superb!

This movie hasn't been released yet, but according to my source it's scheduled to release in Singapore on 9th October 2008. There's nothing about Malaysia's release date though (sigh). But if it does come out here, be sure to go see it! It's totally worth spending your moolah on.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Hottie & The Nottie

Nate moves to L.A. to track down Cristabel, the woman he's been in love with since childhood, only to discover that his plan to woo her only has one hurdle to overcome: what to do with June, Cristabel's ever-present, not-so-hot best friend? What's even more complicating is Nate's growing feelings for June, whose true beauty starts to emerge.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Son of Rambow

Son of Rambow is the name of the home movie made by two little boys with a big video camera and even bigger ambitions. Set on a long English summer in the early 80's, this movie is a comedy about friendship, faith and the tough business of growing up. We see the story through the eyes of Will, the eldest son of a fatherless Plymouth Brethren family. The Brethren regard themselves as God's 'chosen ones' and their strict moral code means that Will has never been allowed to mix with the other 'worldlies,' listen to music or watch TV, until he finds himself caught up in the extraordinary world of Lee Carter, the school terror and maker of bizarre home movies.

Re-Belles

"We are the best! So screw the rest! We'll do as we damn well please..
Until the end.. St Trinian's! Defenders of anarchy!"

Just so you know, Marv & I bought a bunch of DVDs when we were in Bali. Super cheap! And yes, I know that the Bali trip post is long due. I'll get to it soon enough. Pft.

Okay, so anyhoo.. one of the said DVDs is St Trinian's, which we watched last night. It was super wicked! And I mean it both as a figure of speech and literally.

The girls of St Trinian's are real riots, attitudinal, uncontrollable, super devious, super detailed and total geniuses. The girls are allowed to do whatever they want, dress however they want, teachers and students are like friends, and there's even a mini bar in the teacher's lounge! Haha. Coolness!

Darren out.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
St Trinian's

WARNING: Here be spoilers!

St Trinian's School For Girls is an anarchical school for uncontrollable girls and they proudly continue to represent the unacceptable face of British education. The school has a number of different cliques - Posh Totty, Chavs, Emos (not Goths), Geeks and First Years. When the new Minister of Education announces he will personally sort the place out, he doesn't realise either the enormity of the task or that the headmistress is an old flame. The school is also threatened with closure by their bank. With the staff clearly a waste of space, the girls realise the responsibility to save the school falls on them and they do so by stealing the painting 'Girl With A Pearl Earring'.

Leaving the dream

My parents are coming home from the US today!!! Woot. The plane's scheduled to touch down a little past noon. Can't wait for the souvenirs and photos!

Code Red

Just watched '28 Weeks Later' on one of the Astro movie channels. This movie is the sequel to '28 Days Later', which I've watched some time back. Though I know that it would obviously be scary, I was stoked to watch it.

But it was nerve-wrecking, spine-chiling, nail-biting horror! But maybe it's just me cause I'm not a big fan of horror movies. And also cause I haven't watched one in a while.

Hsin Yue was scared to bits! Halfway through he even begged that I change the channel. But obviously I didn't. Haha. But seriously, the zombies or also known as "the infected" are damn fugly, bloody and scary-looking. Yuck!

28 Weeks Later

WARNING: Here be spoilers!

In the country nearby London, Don, his wife Alice and a few survivors live hidden in a farmhouse. When infected people break in the house, Dan panics and does not help his wife to escape, running away and leaving Alice trapped inside the room.

Twenty eight weeks after the outbreak that annihilated the population of Great Britain, London is considered safe and the British survivors return under the coordination of the American Army, that keeps the city under permanent surveillance. The teenager Tammy and her younger brother Andy travel back from Spain to live with their father Don in London. They miss their mother and decide to escape to their old house to retrieve pictures and some other personal belongings. However, they find Alice surprisingly alive and the Army brings her to the base. After some blood test, the biologist Scarlet discovers that Alice is a carrier of the lethal virus and somehow has immunity to it. Meanwhile, Don sneaks through the facility to say how sorry he is to Alice, who forgives him. When he kisses her, he is immediately contaminated, spreading a new epidemic.

Living without rules

Ugh! Period and menopause.. I hate them. Not saying that I have them okay? Sheesh. Don't be stupid. It's just that I hate it when women get either and become all emotionally unstable (if you can call it that).

One good example is my granma. Hold on.. do old women still have menopause and does it lasts till forever? Okay whatever. Back to the rambling.

The thing is this. My younger bro, Hsin Yue had dozed off while watching the telly and also cause earlier he'd played his online game almost the whole day. So whatever la. I don't give 2 hoots. Just let the brat sleep la, right?

Then it was dinner time. So my granma was calling us to go downstairs for dinner and cause Hsin Yue was asleep he didn't respond (DUH!). She called his name a couple of times more. The obvious thing to do then was to tell her he's asleep, right? So I did.

Then the hoopla happened. She suddenly started shouting angrily (in Mandarin):

"Why did you allow him to sleep when it's almost dinner time? Huh? Then he's gonna feel so tired. Told him to stop playing and take a nap but he didn't. Kept on playing non stop. Now he's sleeping when it's time for dinner! Blah.. blah.. blardy blah.. blah."

Sigh. So girls, I do understand that it's torture and you can't help your emotions going awry when it that time of the month.. when your aunty visits.. or whatever you prefer to call it. But I speak on behalf of all the guys, please have mercy on us and try to control yourself a bit. Okay? Thanks heaps. LOL.

Btw Marv and I watched 'The Dark Knight' at Cineleisure this afternoon. Remember in my previous post, Letter of temporary resignation, I said that some days I have an early 8am class and then another at 2pm or 3pm? So ya. I had this freakishly long break and Marv was done for the day. And since we haven't watched 'The Dark Knight', we decided to.

It was shit good man! The mood of the movie was so freakishly sinister and demented cause of the late Heath Ledger's awesome portrayal of the Joker. Brilliant stuff!

This girl beside me was covering herself with her jacket and kept on squirming and squeeling whenever the Joker appeared or did something horrible to the other characters. Lollers.

However, there were only 2 things I didn't like about this movie. First is that the storyline, though full of suspense and shocking twists, is a tad draggy. I is no like draggy.

Secondly I can't stand the Batman's I-want-to-sound-mysterious-so-i-make-it-gruffy-and-an-octave-lower voice. I mean, what's with that?? It was blardy irritating, no?

Darren out.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Dark Knight

Bruce Wayne and his vigilante alter-ego the Batman, continue the seemingly endless effort to bring order to Gotham, with the help of Lt. James Gordon and newly appointed District Attorney Harvey Dent. But a new threat has now emerged into the streets. The Dark Knight faces a rising psychopathic criminal mastermind called The Joker, whose eerie grin, laughter, and inhuman morality makes him as dangerous than what he has yet to unleash. Batman's struggle against the Joker becomes deeply personal, forcing him to "confront everything he believes" and improve his technology to stop him.

Just warming up

I am now in the com lab at college. Everyone chao dy but I gotta wait for Marv cause he still has class.

Anyhoo.. I just had Nasi Goreng Cendawan at the cafeteria and it was as awesome as ever! Can't believe I have not eaten it for a whole month. But damn la.. all the prices have increased! The NG Cendawan used to be RM4 but now it's RM4.80! Like wtf??

Another shocker is that just now during the introduction class for PR, Ms Irene said that our event would be a beauty pagent! I repeat.. WTF??!

For the previous semesters, in fact all of them, the PR students were allowed to discuss among themselves and choose what they wanted to do for their event. But we can't? Bloody unfair man! Uncool. Pft.

Oh, but on the other hand, I've just had some whiskey peach. Lollers. The H&T students have an alcohol class. Yeap! Alcohol man. No joke!

So anyways, Marv and Munnie have this friend doing H&T, and she managed to "smuggle" out a cup of the said whiskey! Sshh. Haha. They gave half the cup to me, Nicky and Zack. We gotta share of course. It was a tad too strong for us, so Zack mixed it with his half cup of Pepsi and added some ice. The mix tasted a bit like cough syrup, but i don't mind. Me like! LOL.

Plus after a few more sips, Nicky and Zack couldn't tahan so they told me that it's all mine! Yay! Phew.. suddenly I'm feeling quite warm. I wonder why? :D

Letter of temporary resignation

Steph, Marv and I have officially (temporarily) stopped working at La Casa. Sigh.. I wanted to at least work till the end of the month before stopping, but my stupid schedule for this new semester is so damn fcuked up! There are a couple of days where I have an early 8-10am lecture and then my next one is at around 2pm or 3pm.

Like what the hell am I supposed to do during that 4 hours plus??! I guess if there really is nothing to do then I'll probably be cooped up in the com lab facebook-ing, blogging about nonesense, or some shit.

But then at least for this semester my Tuesdays are lecture and tutorial free. Yay! It's time we're given a day off!

That's the interior of La Casa where I used to work at. The lady boss said that she'll try finding and scheduling a couple of days for me to work. I'm really hoping I can work a lil' more. I want the moolah!

Seeing stars

"Beverly Hills!
That's where I wanna be!"

My parents flew to the USA early this morning. My dad's in this direct selling company and he won a 4D 2N trip to St. Louis, Missouri, USA for a conference. This is his second win. The first was last year.

So anyways, my parents extended the stay. They'll be overseas for 10 days cause after the following day after the conference, they'll go to Las Vegas for a few days. Then they'll go to San Francisco and LA.

But hear this.. at LA, they'll be staying at my mum's childhood friend's place for a night and then only at a hotel. But that's not all. My mum's friend is Aunty Linda by the way.

Aunty Linda's house is in the neighbourhood of the stars, which is none other than Beverly Hills!!! She told us that Simon Cowell stays just a couple of streets away and he has even asked her husband to help suggest a good brand of milk at the grocers! They've even seen a couple of other celebs out jogging or walking their dog or whatnot!

Gaahhhh!!!! So darn jealous! I'm green with freakin' envy!

The house

Eesh.. I really dunno how I feel about my job exactly. It's like a part of me enjoys it and another part of me hates it so bad! The part that loves the job is bigger though.

So anyways, one reason why I like this waitering job is cause of the ambience of the restaurant (La Casa). The interior's really well designed.. good choice of music.. and not to forget awesome-tasting and delicious-smelling food!

Um.. this might sound wierd to some of you, but I like taking the orders, recomending stuff to the customers and all that. Yupz. Oh! And I also like that andrenalin rush and busyness whenever the restaurant is packed. Well, I do work better under pressure. So ya.. it figures.

Next reason's cause most of my collegue's are really nice, friendly and help me a lot when I first started. Now we're like really chummy. We chat when we're free, and complain and gossip about the wierd customers. Sshhhh.. haha.

Also I've seen and served a couple of noted or famous locals. Jojo Struys came to La Casa twice and I served her on both occasions. Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik's younger son also ate at La Casa with his girlfriend recently and I served them too.

But then above all that is the fact that the head chef is a sohaibastardassholesonofabitch, truely Malay attitude, I-can-do-whatever-I-want, gross-sweat-smelling person. Phew! I don't mean to sound racist but I can't stand that stupid Malay man.

Okay, another thing is us staff do not get any lunch or OT. Sucks right?! Steph, Marv and I have to always eat lunch at some place in DPC, and most of them are pretty pricey. Even my mum realises and that day she said:

"Eh! You guys eat more that you earn la. What's the use of workin then?"

I couldn't agree more! Irritates the shit outa me when we go for lunch and I see the staff from other restaurants having their free meal. Like wtf man!

So ya.. Marv and I have kinda decided to quit sooner or later. I'm planning to work a while more and maybe stop at the end of the month or something. And poor Steph has to quit as well cause she doesn't have transport. Really sorry Steph.

Oh! And sorry for the language by the way. Just wanna release the anger and dissatisfaction. Ugh.. just gotta tahan for a few more weeks till I quit. Hopefully by then I've already found a new and better job. Oh God, help me!

Some people never change

Szen, Marv and I went to Starbucks at OU this afternoon for the Unofficial SKTBM '01 Reunion that was organized by Lali and Tana. Kudos guys! It was a genius idea to have that reunion. And it was awesome fun.

But sadly a lot of people did not come. Teruk!

So anyhoo, the reunion was to start at 2pm. Us three were there right on time. We saw Huey Yi there with her bf and thought that she's there for the reunion. Instead we found out that they are working at Itallianies and are on a lunch break. -_____-"

We decided to go jalan a while, then come back. But on the way we bumped into Andrea. Figuring out that the others are probably being typical Msians, we just ordered our drinks and had a pretty long reminiscing and catching up session.. our own little reunion. Haha. We literally sipped at our drinks with hopes that more will turn up.

A couple of hours passed and we gave up hope. But surprisingly more came! Yay! Three to be exact. Tana and Harvind came together, and Eric a few minutes later.

We finished our drinks and then Andrea, Szen, Marv and I went window shopping. The other 3 went to A&W cause they hadn't eaten. Halfway, Andrea got a call. Lali and Jess were here!

After more reminiscing, catching up, gossips, eating and drinking (phew!), we did more window shopping at Pull & Bear. Some of us ended up spending, which we couldn't help doing okay? It is the Mega Sale season.

Notice that Tana isn't in any of the photos? He was the photographer for the first. And when we were taking the other two, he's buying doughnuts.

So ya, it was a good reunion. Though only 8 attended, it was equally as fun. Hope to do it again people! Probably nearer at a mamak or somewhere? Stay in touch.

Updates

Gaaarrrgghh.... my blog is so damn dead!!! And I have so many happenings I haven't blogged about! Crap! Um.. I guess the easiest thing is to just do a brief & summarized update. I'll start from the oldest happening to the most recent. Ready? Go!

Okay, I..

..watched "Get Smart" with Marv at Cineleisure, which was a really random last minute thing. It was good. I enjoyed the laughing and the cool spy gadgets.

..watched "Hancock" with Marv, Jon T, Adrian & Christy at Mid Valley GSC. Honestly, I was disappointed. The story and especially the ending wasn't what I expected at all!

..had a small drinking session at Jon T's place after "Hancock". We had some JD, Malibu, Midori and Finland Vodka. We discovered that Malibu and Coke taste like Vanilla Coke. I'm in love!!!

..had dinner with the Tunas. It was sorta like a "farewell gathering" cause Juls was going back to Aussie that week.

..tried the new Dark Chocolate M&Ms. Awesomeness!!!!!

..saw five silver Myvis parked side-by-side, with one Sports Myvi in the middle! What a freakin' coincidence! The second from the right is mine. Lollers!

..had creme caramel made by Marv. It was the first time he tried it at home. It was goooooddd!!!!

..finished my finals and the second last semester! One more semester to go!

..helped with a surprise bday party for my Father's friend. His wife planned it for him. We had to wait a while for him to come home and were starving!

..had Strawberry Cheesecake Trifle at the above party. The trifle's made by Marv. Kudos bro!

..got a waitering job at La Casa in DPC! Steph got it too. Our shift is from 11am-3pm. Sadly we don't get lunch.

..had a farewell party for a church friend who is going to Negeri Sembilan cause of work. He's a sorta-fresh graduate but was offered to be an assistant manager for this estate in Rompin. Not bad, eh?

I guess that's the end of the list.

The cautionary whale

Marvin and I both pitched in some cash and bought 6 DVDs (buy 5, free 1) yesterday. But they were all for just RM40! Bargain man! Bargain!

And yes, I do support DVD piracy. But it depends okay. Think about it. The original ones are so pricey! So if the pirated ones are really good quality (and cheap).. why not? LOL.

So anyways, one of the DVDs that we got was Juno. We unanimously decided to watch that first. It was really well done. Kudos to the director (Jason Reitman) and especially the writer (Diablo Cody)!

I like that Juno was made to be such a sharp-tongued teen -- so cynical and full of sarcastic quips. Plus, once she'd accepted the fact that she's heavily preggers, she becomes so selamba about it. Her constant sarcasm is hilarious but you must be quick to get them.

Um.. I also like the indie-ness of this movie and the many indie-sounding songs that acompanies it. I so wanna get the soundtrack! Yes.. I will be getting the original. FYI, all my albums are original. Happy??
